Ring in the New Year in style with the perfect party.
Staying in or going out? If you have the space, the best option is to let the people bring the party to you! How to be the hostess with the mostess:
- There has to be confetti! Be on trend with eco-friendly decor – make your own biodegradable confetti, or use flower petals, or birdseed. Else any paper confetti is better than plastic. Explore pinterest for inspiring biodegradable confetti and party decor ideas.
- Choose gold or silver as your party accent colour, with a complimentary colour throughout, e.g. black and gold, blue and silver, pink and gold, silver and gold, or silver, black, and gold!
- Create a centerpiece at a table or kitchen counter if you have an open plan kitchen, with all your self-serve drinks and sweet and savoury party finger foods.
- And/or create party favour packs with sparklers, confetti, blowers, and treats for each guest – children and adults alike, we all love gifts.
- If you’re planning to serve dinner, keep it light – you don’t want your guests magies vol before the clock strikes 12!
- Same with alcohol – don’t start (drinking) too early, you don’t want to be wasted before midnight even arrives.
- Plan the clean-up in advance – try avoid being stuck with a huge mess and dishes to wash – not the best way to start the first day of the year, think short cuts, get help from the family, or pay for help
How to party like a rock star, safely!
How to stay safe out and about on New Years Eve:
- Dress up, make the effort, you will look and feel fabulous. Find out if there is a dress code or theme at the venue you plan to attend
- If you are going out – NO drinking and driving, it’s never worth it. Nominate a non-drinking designated driver, or make your travel arrangements before hand. Budget in safe travel – UBER charges surge pricing on New Years Eve, especially between midnight and 3am
- Watch your drinks from the time being poured and never leave them unattended. Keep handbags close and valuables safe from pick-pocketing hands, don’t flash your cellphone walking to and from your venue out along public roads, especially at night.
- Alcohol – save yourself the headache, remember to stay hydrated with a glass of water between drinks. Eat before drinking and/or during alcohol. Try not to mix drinks, rather stick to classy champagne and maybe one well-timed upper such as tequila shortly before or after midnight
- It may be pricey, but the best option is to spoil yourself, your partner or friends with a pre-paid restaurant or club event, with all food inclusive. Hurry though, the best places seel out way in advance. Try choose somewhere you will be able to see fireworks at midnight.
Have a fabulous night, and cheers to a fantastic 2018!
